Shaklee Cinch Bars & Type 1 Diabetes

TEAM – here’s an idea for you – my sister ordered a CINCH Kit (so I had it shipped to my house, then I went to her work to bring it to her and open it up and go thru it with her… Guess what happened??? One of her freinds there got really interested! Pretty cool! My plan went like clock work! Ha Ha.
Anyway – the friend has a little boy who is Type 1 diabetic, and is on a swim team (reminded me of Gary Hall, who is also Type 1 diabetic and won the GOLD while using Shaklee products!). She asked me to find out if the Cinch bars would be good for her son – so we sent the question to Shaklee – and got this answer below. (by the way, she has now ordered 2 boxes of the bars, and 2 boxes of the Cinch Tea!!!)

Your email was sent on to me to provide you a response. The trick with diabetes and in particular type 1 diabetes, where insulin therapy is part of the equation, is that blood sugar levels need to be closely monitored as he tries out different snack options. Certainly he could try the Cinch Bar as a post swim snack. Each bar has about 15 grams of carbohydrate and has been tested and shown to be low glycemic. They also have 3 grams of fiber which helps slow the rate at which the carbohydrate gets into the blood stream. The best thing to suggest is that he tries the bar and then tests his blood sugar so he can see what impact it had. They don’t have a lot of calories so it maybe that he will need to eat a little more if he’s had a major swim workout. He should be able to figure that out by eating a bar and testing his blood sugar shortly thereafter. The bar could be eaten alone or combined with other healthy foods, like cheese and crackers, a yogurt or some nuts.
